Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, I’m trying to get my head around VPN’s are they primarily for security purposes or do they protect your information if you use your iPad etc abroad?

I’ve always avoided logging into banking sites etc when abroad would a VPN mean it’s safe to do so?

Sorry for being dim about this subject x

Basically VPNs encrypt your Internet connection and hiding your location to stop people spying on you by routing your internet through different servers in other countries. A by-product is that you can pretend you are in a different country to access location restricted websites such as the US Disney website and US Netflix. This is what the vast majority of people use VPNs for.

So yes, using a VPN will make it safe for you to access your UK bank when abroad.

Can I just ask if the free tunnel bear VPN works for booking DAS with Disney? I’m due to book tomorrow so want to sort this out tonight. Thanks.

I don't think the free version would be enough, you only get very small amount of data use and you need to do a video call

Sorry for just jumping on this thread! I’m trying to get on the US Disney site to look at annual pass resort room discounts but I keep getting an error telling me that the site can’t be accessed from the server I’m using. I’ve tried 2 vpns, Windscribe which I’ve used fine for years and tunnel bear. I’ve not been on the website since before Covid but could it be blocking vpns now?

I could go onto the US Disney site using Tunnelbear, so I don’t think they’ve blocked VPNs. However parts of the US website currently have a virtual queue because all the Americans are looking at 2024 bookings that have just been released today, so I couldn’t look at much (and I didn’t fancy waiting in a queue).

Funnily enough though, when I tried to reply to your post whilst still connected to that VPN, the DIBB didn’t let me because that IP address was registered as having a high level of spam.
