First family trip to Las Vegas and LA - August 2022 - Day 13 - DL, DCA and Goofy's Kitchen

Index

We were starting to feel that the holiday was coming to an end now but, in all honesty, it did feel like we had been away for ages. Las Vegas felt so long ago. We feared that with the three locations the holiday would feel like it flew by too quickly but it actually seemed to have the opposite effect.

We headed into DCA at 09:03.

We headed straight round to do Webslingers again as Benjamin wanted to have another go.

The queue was already looking pretty lengthy we got the individual LL.
After about 15 minutes being held just outside the pre show it became clear that the ride had gone down. Eventually the queues started clearing. I went and spoke to a CM and had the choice of a refund or keep it for later. We decided to keep hold of it for later and we could use it on this or Radiator Springs.

Emma wanted to have another go at her all time Favorite ride so we headed for Incredicoaster again.

This time I challenged her to do it with her hands in the air and she managed to hold them above her head from start to finish. I have a feeling we have a proper little roller coaster junkie in the making.

We decided it was about time we tried the Num Num cookies.

It was time to get some of the rides done that we hadn't yet done in DCA. First up was Little Mermaid.

Onto the next

It was still only 10:30 so the queues were pretty short.

On the Silly Symphony Swings Emma was tall enough for an individual swing but Benjamin had to go on one of the pairs. HE was perfectly happy with that anyway.

Another round of Midway Mania next. This was definitely easier to get onto that the last time we were in WDW... with Genie + anyway.

Afterwards Benjamin was keen to give Webslingers another try.

We hung around for a few minutes and caught the Spiderman show.

The kids loved this. Benjamin was transfixed by his flips and moves.

Around to Webslingers we were straight into the pre-show for this time around.

We got just down to the first sight of the ride vehicles and it went down again. It took about half an hour for things to get going again and for us to get on.

The kids enjoyed it again and these things happen so never mind.

I tried to talk everyone into doing the rapids again. It was only Emma that was up for it so off we went.

This was good fun again and we both got pretty wet. I do love a water ride.

We took the soaking as a sign to head back to the hotel to get freshened up. Emma and I were wet through so the walk back was a good opportunity to dry. We grabbed some bits and pieces for lunch from 7/11 as it was about 13:30. Whilst Sally and Benjamin were in the shop Emma was having fun making art with her wet bum on the pavement!

We had some lunch in the room and the kids chilled out for a bit watching tv.

About 17:50 we hopped in a Lyft. The little legs in the family were starting to struggle, my blisters were killing me but on the plus side my one black toe wasn't causing me too much grief now

We arrived at The Disneyland Hotel in good time for a Goofy's Kitchen reservation. I had planned on just doing the one character meal but having seen how much the kids enjoyed breakfast yesterday we decided to stick with this one too.

Once we checked in we got our pictures taken with the chef.

We didn't have too long to wait. We had warned the kids that there wasn't cuddling with the characters here as from what we'd seen on multiple vlogs it was still just waving and passing by the tables.

We got a badge each and got some first bits of food.

Whilst Sally and Benjamin were up at the buffet Emma got a surprise from a friend as she had no idea he was behind her. It really made her laugh.

The kids also enjoyed waving their napkins with everyone else.

The kids were loving the characters again. I have no idea what Benjamin felt her had to show CHip...or is it Dale but it cheered him up.

The kids caught up with Minnie before hitting the desserts.

I had an ice cream and Sally was loving digging into the mini creme brulees

The food was a pretty standard Disney buffet really. It was pretty good but nothing to write home about. The character interaction was superb. The characters each came to the table at least twice and provided lots of really good memories for us. For that it was worth the money and we were glad we did a second character meal.

We headed into DL about 20:00. We'd grabbed a LL for Buzz before heading in.

I think I won again

I had realised that Emma was tall enough for Indiana Jones which for some reason I didn't think she was. She wanted to give it go.

Even the queue line made her think twice. She wasn't a big fan of this. It's very dark and a bit scary for kids. She was fine though but didn't want to do it again. It is a similar kind of ride to Dinosaur in AKL really.

We decided to go and get a spot for the fireworks. We didn't fancy the crush of Main Street and I remember someone telling me on here before we went that they watched it from near Small World and liked it. We decided to give that a shot.

Obviously when we got near Small World we couldn't not give it a quick go.

It was... as annoying as ever

As we got to the last couple of rooms we could hear the fireworks starting and were just willing it to end

We could see the start of them as we got out of the boat.

We walked out, found a nice wall to sit on and sat back in comfort and enjoyed the fireworks.

It's obviously a different view that of Main Street and the castle but it worked perfectly for us so thank you to that person who gave me the tip! We had a lovely time. It took a while to get out of DL after this as many paths were closed off for a while after the fireworks. The kids were starting to flag.

Emma caught a lift from Sally down Main Street whilst I had Benjamin. Benjamin didn't last too long at all and it made for a long walk back

Emma was a trooper again. She never once moaned about the walking.

Another lovely day. I took a screen shot of the ride closures at one point today... there were quite a lot throughout the day. Obviously these things happen but when it's really busy it does compact the queues into fewer attractions.

Gorgeous photos with the characters. I don’t know how Emma managed to stay awake and upright! Another lovely day for you all.

Another fantastic day. Goody’s Kitchen proved a hit, I have such lovely memories of our first character meal when the girls were tiny I enjoyed watching the kids reactions they seem more precious when they are younger.
