They notice that guests like to visit non Disney parks so to make up for the money lost they make back by charging Disney guests to park there car on resort.
They really want guests to get the Magical express from Orlando airport or a coach/taxi from Sanford.

Really! So what about the thousands of Americans who drive to Disney for their holiday.

Don't forget Brits make up a very very small percentage of visitors to Orlando.

You got to say anyone who doesn’t live in Florida will get a Flight to Orlando.

For those staying onsite, they will have to pay the onsite parking fee.

Meanwhile, for the millions who fly to Orlando (whether Americans or non-Americans) and stay at a Disney hotel, Disney is trying to encourage them to ditch the hire car and use either the Magical Express, the Minnie Vans which now go to/from MCO, or get a taxi/uber/coach instead. That way, it makes it slightly more difficult for those guests to leave the Disney bubble and go elsewhere.

Which brings up back to what themeparksandy originally said.

If you have a 2 week park ticket, you should at least get a reduced daily rate.

You end up having to budget something like an extra $250+ just for parking.
Or spend that on Lyft or Uber and save the cost of hiring a car at all.

I disagree ,Americans love their road trips and many drive distances we'd consider unthinkable for a weekend break. My friends who lived in Atlanta thought nothing of the drive and did it several times a year (and now do it in reverse ,as they've retired to southern Florida ,when visiting family)

...and this is exactly what we are doing now... Changed our plans...

This years trip is Universal, Sea World, Bush Gardens in a hire car and Villa. Won't bother with Disney this trip.

Next year no hire car, Disney Express and 14 days 100% in the Disney bubble.

The annual passholder groups are full of people driving hours for regular visits. I even saw one driving monthly from Canada for a 4 day visit!
