Oh! This is what they posted on Twitter (although who knows the accuracy of anything they say these days )

Could I ask which "grapevine" this is please as it goes against everything else Virgin are currently saying?

If they do this I hope they compensate people who've paid £100s extra to fly direct.

They will need to refund me, I am not flying indirect.

It would be change of airport, change of plane/seats and indirect - no thanks

The following is a direct announcement from Virgin for the Trade yesterday - which I would hope would be more accurate than something on a Florida Forum. As Virgins communications have been exceptionally poor it is hard to get any definite answers.

As countries around the world start to relax travel restrictions, we wanted to let you know of our plan to restart flying customers with service from London Heathrow to Orlando, Hong Kong, Shanghai, New York and Los Angeles from the 20 July 2020. While steadily increasing passenger flying throughout the second half of 2020, with a further, gradual recovery through 2021 in line with customer demand.

Our first planned flights will be to Orlando and Hong Kong; however, we are monitoring external conditions extremely closely, in particular the travel restrictions many countries have in place including the 14-day quarantine policy for travellers entering the UK.

We will be flying our customers temporarily to and from London Heathrow Terminal 2

Restart date Route
20th July 2020 London Heathrow – Orlando
20th July 2020 London Heathrow – Hong Kong
21st July 2020 London Heathrow – Shanghai
21st July 2020 London Heathrow – New York JFK
21st July 2020 London Heathrow – Los Angeles

We shall see eventually.

Interestingly, Ireland have just reduced their 5 step plan down to 4. This means that their final phase (including tourist travel), starts on 20th July now.

So if Virgin do indirect flights do customers have the right to cancel if they have booked direct flights? I would have to assume so but it seems they are making the rules up as they go along.
Thanks in advance and thanks for all the info .
