Another vote for Nationwide Credit Card, for day to day cash equivalent I use Starling Debit Card

I just use my Amex. I don’t actually make the payment with it so the fee is irrelevant

*having said that, our tolls were all charged to that card. It wasn’t much though, £36 for 3 weeks which included driving from Miami to Key West, up to AMI and then on to Orlando. The fee was very small on that

I'd check some of the recommendations before signing up. A quick Google shows some Natwest (DH has this) and some Santander ones both charges fees for foreign transactions.

People may not release the difference with cards fees and foreign transaction fees.

It can depend on the card, and not just the bank. Natwest for example currently offer 5 credit cards, 2 of which have no forex fees.

I’m not sure if it’s still the case but I think it used to be that although there’s no apparent ‘fee’, their exchange rates were very poor so it was an effective ‘charge’.

Santander's new CC offers fee free foreign transactions, 0% interest for 22 months and 0.5% cashback on purchases. £3 per month but earn enough cash back and it'll cover it easily.
