What flea treatments for you use for your cats/dogs?
Our rescue cat (been home since July) has used frontline plus without any issues since she came come.
However today DH and myself have been bitten badly on our lower leg. I’ve checked the cat and can’t see anything and think she has picked up a hitchhiker overnight. We used to use Advocate on our dogs and never had an issue so now I’m worried that frontline isn’t doing it’s job. Unless it was a one off? When she came to use the vet used something called Broadline which I had never heard of. Any thoughts or recommendations? Thank you |

I use Prinovox for our dogs but they also do it in a cat version. It’s pretty broad spectrum and we have never had a problem.

We use Advocate for our cats. We have a plan with our vets that includes flea treatment, worming and boosters.

My dog has a Droncit tablet every 3 months and a Nexgard chew once every month.
These give protection from fleas and worms etc. He’s 6.5 years and had these from the vets under his pet plan all his life. Not once had fleas or any other parasites. He loves the Nexgard chews as they’re bacon flavoured.

I also have a plan with my vets high covers flea/ worm treatment
Kody has Nexguard spectra tablets, with a 3 monthly tablet for tapeworm I find Kody is better with tablets for treatment rather than the spot on medication as he is a Husky/GSD cross with a really thick coat so it was always a bit hit and miss as to how well the spot on treatment went on to the skin |

I use Effipro on my two and I get it from Costco (they used to sell it in the warehouse but now you can only get it online) and it seems to do the job with our cats.

My cat was on advantage but the vet suggested frontline so we swapped and experienced the same as yourself, being bitten several times. I changed back to advantage which I now get delivered to home each month by pets at home.

It’s so strange isn’t it because frontline should work.
I have just counted 9 bites on my right left and 5 on the left. Nothing anywhere else. But I’ve combed her again and can’t see any dirt or fleas, she’s not scratching either. So flipping annoying. Dogs for 20 years and not one flea! |
