Decided to cancel

We have thought long and hard about this but sadly have just taken the decision to cancel or May trip. I was never 100% happy booking in the first place but was persauded as it is our 40th wedding anniversary.

I have just been stressing about everything, tests, catching covid over there and the implications if we did

I now need to cancel our flight/hotel with BA, a hotel only booking with Virgin Holidays and an Avios booking for a hotel with BA.

Can anyone advise the best way to do this ie. phone calls or can it be done online?

Thanks

We cancelled our Christmas trip a couple of days before we were due to go. We managed to get refunds on everything but the flights, but have been allowed to carry them over to a future date. It was quite worrying leading up to the cancellation, but hearing of the problems people had whilst out there we are are glad we did.
We've got another booking for Easter, which we may or may not cancel, depending on what happens over the next couple of months.

I understand. We cancelled our 40th anniversary and both our 70th birthday trips in 2020, even if we could have gone I do think we wouldn’t have enjoyed them. Waiting until we can relax a bit more than currently before booking any more. Hope you get sorted soon

We’ve just cancelled our trip for February.
We had our car booked through virgin holidays, called their customer service number and got through straight away, couldn’t of had a nicer person on the other end of the call! Called on the 20th and the refund landed in my account today 😊

I’m still on the edge of cancelling May. Just need to speak to my manager to see if I can take the time off next Xmas before I start making decisions.

We cancelled march, there’s still too much up in the air to risk it, I emailed attraction tickets, just did cancellation online for Radisson, rang virgin and insurance. Got £90 back on insurance, virgin will make a note on the account and the deposit can be carried forward for a year (I think). Actually cancelling felt like a load off my mind….

Same here when we cancelled for Christmas.
We're also due to go at Easter. We know its going to be a different experience to normal, the question is "How different?" and is it worth going. Also, we'll know nearer the time about testing, isolation times and (most worrying) what are the implications of testing positive while we're out there.

We may be close to a similar decision, we’ve move twice already and now with a 3 week old the May trip may be too stressful with all the testing and uncertainty

We’ll lose £700 deposit but I’m not sure it’s worth keep trying with

I'd suggest it's premature to be cancelling May trips based on today's testing requirements. Testing requirements change and are more than likely to be relaxed as we leave the winter months and case numbers subside. I can certainly see the requirement to test before coming home being dropped (as per pre-Omicron outbreak), especially if you've had the booster.

I'd sit tight until March and see how the land lies. You'd be kicking yourself if everything has been relaxed by then and you could have gone.
