Starling card ?

I have a revolut account and have used in as a payment card in France and the US without issue

I have heard a lot about Starling, mostly that it's better and your money is safer.
Could you provide your experience with this if you have any.
I have downloaded the app and I am awaiting my card. I cannot see how to add cash ? I don't see and exchange information on it either.

Hi, I've not used Starling myself but have used 'Currensea' both on holidays abroad and on occassion when working away from the UK and find that to be great and very useful. Its really simple to use and you get notifications of each transaction practically in real time (via app or email) showing the rate and saving I'd made. I've found this to be the most cost affective and useful card in terms of exchange rate and value etc.

I used a Starling card when there last month, the DW used her revolut. We had no issue using either whatsoever, both were accepted everywhere we went.

I haven't looked at the data to see which gave us a better exchange rate. (don't want to see the amount spent on the statement )

I’ve only really used cash in the past but I’ve opened a Currensea card and a Chase account so I’ll have a couple of options when I’m there.

It’s a bank account so you don’t “add” money to the card, it works as any other debit card will do! You can transfer money into your Starling account from any other bank account you use, when you use it abroad it applies the rate in force at the time, and there are no foreign exchange charges applied. I love mine and use it everywhere I go 😊

Is Monzo still good for this? I'm flying a week today, and tbh hadn't even looked at this. Was just gonna transfer my spending money to my Monza account, and then use that at the tills etc?

Another aspect I find really good on Starling is that you can lock your card in the app if for any reason you may have lost it or just want the extra security when abroad. You can basically lock and unlock as needed.

Also, I like the "spaces" option where you can create sub folders to save for things / allocate money. I use this a lot when planning for a Florida trip / saving. Also useful for the kids spending money etc.

I've had mine for about 4 years and think its fab!

All our spends, and things we've yet to pay for - car hire, airport hotels etc - are all tucked away in Spaces. Such a smple idea done really well.

Another vote for starling here- used it on lots of countries now with no issues. Great for withdrawals too (just make sure you use an atm that doesn’t charge like pnc in wawa gas stations)
I really like that when they take your card in restaurants that the transaction flashes up on your phone before the card even gets back to the table
