As noted above, plenty of hotels in the city centre close to Central station. IN addition to those above, I have also stayed at:
Premier Inn - George Square - handy for Merchant City area (Avoid the one on Argyle Street - I stayed one night - never again! ) Grand Central - very handy for station but can be noisy Hampton by Hilton - a short walk from the station, but easy to get to the city centre bars and restaurants Slightly further out (two stops on the train to the Exhibition Centre) is the Hilton Garden Inn - small rooms, but handy for Finnieston, and also a nice 20 minute stroll along the river to the city centre.
