thanks folks

Ive seen some " wax " you can force into the scratch, i will then lightly sand it and re-wax it , might end up with a new oak table, which is a shame as its only 10 months old

The savings we made will be put towards the " man cave / home cinema " in the summer

just got alot of work to do now, but the wife wanted a " project " and she has it now

We scratched our table and used the pens/wax crayon kit. It was an improvement but not total cover up. Someone recommended Wood Silk, which is a spray can of non silicone polish containing bees wax. You only need to use a small spray and after a few separate days of polishing you can now hardly see the scratches unless your really look for them. I did it on top of the pen/crayon. I got my can from Wilko and it wasn't much more than the Mr Sheen type cans.
