Travel agents?

My family & I are going to book our first holiday to florida .
We were wondering whats best to do regarding villas do we try to sort one out ourselves or do we let the travel agent do the work for us?

Personally I love choosing the villa, there are villas on the Dibb as well as other sites that you type in your requirements then emails are sent to villa owners who reply to you directly.

It's fun choosing, it's best to know what you want, a new build, pool, spa, games room, ensuite etc.

Good Luck

WELCOME TO THE DIBB

As Alyson says choosing the villa yourself is half the fun - I like it so you can look around other peoples houses! Just me being nosey.

I love choosing the villa myself direct from owners both for Florida and Europe.

You'll know exactly whrere you are going and what you are getting.

Hopefully extras like gamesroom and spa plus luxury furnishing compared to TA's.

I also walk around the estate, pretending to take some exercise!

last year we booked with the travel agent but not this year this year we booked ourselfs and know where the villa is and now how to get there what the villa has got and how far it is from disney howerver when you book with the travel agent normally you just go to a villa management company and are then given your villa so you dont know notting about your villa till you get there

Hi...if you book a villa with a travel agent you get charged for extras which in some cases can add a lot on as the travel agents tend to book villas based on a certain amount of people sharing the villa. Also you tend to get a villa nothing like the book shows allocated on arrival.
At least if you book with an owner direct you get to see what you paid for and where you are staying plus you can get all local info from the owner wheras the tour operators dont often get local info.

Best wishes on your search

Hi everyone, just read your threads of booking your own villas. I hope to do this soon but am not sure where to look apart from the dibb. I am a novice at booking everything seperately. There is only hubby and myself this year so I only want a 3 bedroom. How do I find out where you get yours from and how do I know the owners are for real? I know it can't be advertised on here. I have been before stayed at hotels and a villa and now I'm spoilt the villa won hands down. Any help would be really appreciated, going in May this year also hoping to get a cheap flight. Don't want much do I?
