Always take pillows, have seen too many filthy pillows like this in holiday accommodation. This was one of 18 pillows in a Thomson AOA villa. All of them were stained and smelly.
I must add that when we stayed in a Dibb villa, the pillows were clean and fresh but we still used our own, just because we had them with us.

Can I just point out the norm in villas is to use a pillow protector which is washed with the pillow cases.
Unfortunately the nice zip up protectors are prone to doing a disappearing act, apparently they start a new life as dirty laundry bags!

I take my own pillow on every plane and to every hotel I visit. I roll it in the space saver bags and it fits nicely in my hand luggage.

I always travel with my own. I put a dark coloured case on it so they know it’s mine. If I leave it behind due to space then I keep the case. I also take a long body pillow as I have back issues and it helps me sleep while keeping my spine aligned properly. Those get left behind most of the time. I tend to take older ones and have a new one waiting at home.

The hospitals in the US use disposable pillows now. When my daughter was in for a day procedure, the assistant told her to take them home with her because she hates to throw them out.
