Anyone flown via Washington?
Hi we are flying on 2.4.20 via Washington. Our flight times have changed giving us little time to transfer.
Can anyone who has transferd here to Orlando give me your experiences please.

Regardless of which US airport I transit through I would never go for less than 3hrs between flights.
The last time I went through Dulles airport to orlando, from 1st plane landing to getting to boarding gate for 2nd plane was just under 2 hours. How much time do you now have to transit? |

Originally 1hr 55 mins now 1hr 10 mins if flight on time.
There is a later flight to Orlando, I have contacted the company we booked through to see if they can change us and what the cost will be.

If this is on the way out from UK then in my opinion there is no way will you get through everything you need to in that time. You could take a risk and hope the flight from uk lands early and that there are no queues. Remember the airlines has an obligation to get you to your destination so they will move you to next available flight.
You need to call the airline and ask to be moved to a later flight or maybe they can move you to earlier flight from UK If there are multiple flights. Do some research on what flight you ideally want to be put on before talking to the airline. |

There should be no additional cost a6a they have changed the schedule so the airline should move you for free
This has been my experience anyway |

Does 70 minutes meet mct for international to domestic? That would be the first question I would be asking - and researching myself. If not, gather information about flights you would like to be changed to - even direct - then request a change. Should not incur any extra cost.

Dulles used to be a busy and rather chaotic airport. Perhaps it’s much improved nowadays but I wouldn’t risk just over an hour.

A friend seems to think we don't need to 'check in' for the next flight as we would already have boarding passes but we just get our luggage of one belt and add it to another.

You won’t have to check in but you will still have to clear immigration and customs.
We had this exact situation a few years ago, flying on Xmas Day. We actually had LESS time than you (I forget the exact number but it was slightly less than an hour). I was very worried as I could not see any possible way to make it and I challenged United robustly (including quoting the regulated MCT etc) but they assured me their stats showed I would almost certainly make it. The next flight to Orlando was four and a half hours later (!) so I decided to take the risk and stuck with the earlier flight. We actually made it with enough time to grab a beer at a bar before getting on the flight to Orlando.
