The PB&J Tour with a side of Birthday fun - August 2019 - Pre Travel Day
Index
We got back on Friday and a trip report is my way of re-living our magic for a bit longer so I figured I'd make a start! Our pre trip report is Here So you know who we are and what we had planned if you want to have a look! I wanted to do a separate food report and link the 2, like I did last time but we ate so much of the same things onsite in the parks because of the kids that I really don't think it's worth it now - however where I have food details I will put them in. It all goes in for me because this report ends up as a book of memories using blurb software, so we have a book of each of our trips which I love! Once I've got going and posted a couple of days I'll sort an index with each day listed so you can see if it's something you'd want to read about. Any questions you may have feel free to ask, I'll help wherever I can. Wednesday 7 August 2019 - first travel day - down to London First of all, here is my journal, isn't it pretty! Disney Store UK purchase about a year ago, it's always about the planning isn't it! Anyway, on to our first travel day, I was up nice and early as I always am, got some things done before waking the troops, the house was quieter than normal, we had dropped our dog Buster at Chris' parents house the night before for his own little holiday and it was strange not having him running around. Here he is, our 10 year old Jack Russell and also, our cats, Homer and Buddy, who where looked after by neighbours (I live opposite my mum, very handy!) For the first time, we were travelling down to London, staying overnight and flying from Heathrow instead of our usual Manchester, because the prices from MAN were stupidly high. Taxi over to Liverpool at 11am no problem, reserved seats on the train - a table, with charging facilities - THANK GOD - those with teenagers will understand, life is not worth living if there is no WiFi or anywhere to charge phones/laptops etc. We then got a taxi to Paddington and the Heathrow express train to the airport Found the hotel, which was Premier Inn T4, all without any divorce inducing arguments which is a great result for us. I am the planner for everything we do, so when I don't know the answer to every single question my troops may have (whether holiday related or not)there is usually a fairly frosty atmosphere for a while. I do remember the walk to the hotel through the airport taking forever though, and we kept seeing signs above us saying, not long now, or something to that effect - in my notes I've written - Poppy, 'are you kidding me?' even our youngest wasn't a fan of the signs that made you think thank god we are nearly there when actually, no you are not! I think it's about a 15min walk but when you've had a long travel day with kids already, that 15mins felt like a lifetime! The room was small but perfectly adequate and clean, I find the premier inn airport rooms (family) are always much smaller than any of their others around the country. As we were tired, I couldn't be bothered figuring out where to eat so we just headed down to Thyme restuarnt in the hotel when it opened at 5pm. Poppy and her lovely picture! Food wise we had Jess : prawn cocktail for starter, Burger for main (Jess can eat, I mean really eat, and she does!) Me - Tuna Salad Chris - Fish & Chips Poppy - Pizza Bill was £74.00 - fairly typical airport prices, all very nice after tea it was back to the room for showers and bed and 5am wake up call tomorrow for the 'proper' travel day, which is more interesting than today I promise you - it was 26 hours long after all!
