We didn't have a connection/transfer but when we visited DC I could not believe how quick we were through immigration! We used the machines which were literally just a walk through but got an X as we declared food I assume (just some snacks & tea bags) so we had to go to a desk and had only one family in front of us

But, I will say it was the most thorough questioning we ever got going through Immigration. The officer asked my dd, 14 at the time, what we were going to do/see in DC, where we were staying and what she was looking forward to most etc. I was quite proud of her with her answers because if someone else asked her, it would be 'I don't know, where ever my mom brings us'

Yes, we also got on the 'moving room', it was just a bit weird and they really pack you in
