Universal Club questions
Hoping for advice/thoughts/opinions please! Although we are not planning to return until 2021 or 2022 (End of August due to school holidays ), I am so excited I can't help but research various things! We would like to do 1 but preferably 2 nights on site at Universal either HRH or PRP (whichever is cheapest ! ). We all agree we would also like to stay Club Level for the breakfast and snacks available (bottomless pit teenagers! ) and will need 2 rooms (4 adults and 2 teens under 16).
In order to make it more affordable I was thinking of exchanging clubcard vouchers for Hotels.com as don't think we will be able to afford it otherwise and will have plenty of time to save! Having just put a couple of random dates in for end of August next year to get an idea of price the difference between a standard room for 2 nights was about £200 My questions are: 1) Does this sound about right? 2)Do prices change much for these hotels and are there ever any bargains? 3)Is Club worth it? 4)Is one hotel generally cheaper than the other and which do people prefer? 5) When is the best time to book? Any sales/offers at particular times of the year 6) Is Hotels.com competitively priced (aware we sill need to pay taxes)? Thanks All |

1) yes sounds about right
2) prices change by season very few deals 3) If you are just doing breakfast no its not worth it but in evening wine beer and some food is available and then cookies etc around 8pm also there is water and cans of juice available through out day using all the options then yes its worth it and yes they still expect a tip which can be worth it as they do look after you also club level guests used to get a discount on a cabana hire at the pool not sure if thats still the case 4)RPR is generally the cheaper hotel cant really advise with 5 & 6 But it just cost me £515 for 1 night std room Easter Saturday and that was cheapest I could find last Sept had 2 rooms for £260 each

If you are going at the end of August, check Portofino Bay
It is normally the most expensive of the 3 hotels but last year it was the cheapest option with Club access Club is worth it if you will be having breakfast and the evening food option. If just doing breakfast I wouldn't bother. It normally costs around 100 dollars a night (£80ish) a night extra over cost of just a room. Hotels.com is fair if you are getting some back on Quidco - Travelbag is normally cheaper but they don't seem to offer club |

Virgin Holidays have recently had the best prices, followed by Travelbag, which does do Club level rooms. Midweek bookings and RPR tend to be cheapest. Also, if one of you has an annual pass, you could look at booking direct with an annual pass rate. I've booked with Tesco vouchers to give the best savings, and Hotels.com will price match but it's difficult once you have booked- I asked them over the phone and kept them on the line whilst I booked. Club level is definitely worth it.

Yes you can - we went in at 12 noon, and some have been in later than that. It's supposed to be until 11am when you checkout, but unless your cards have been deactivated, you can still go into the lounge.

The letter I got in my welcome pack said I could use the lounge until 2pm on check out day. So breakfast and afternoon snacks. I assume my key would have been deactivated for the lift after that?

I can confirm that your key will still work the lift until after 9pm on the day you leave. (Might even work later but we were leaving to go back to the villa) Worked for me and the staff were more than happy enough for us to have a bottle of water. Extremely helpful and friendly.
