Rope drop ROTR, would this work?

Hoping to spend our first day at HS, but having read many posts on ILLs going so quickly at 7am,I don’t want to be offered an late afternoon/evening slot as I know how tired we’ll be.

We’ll be onsite in August at the Beach Club-and obviously up very early on the first day.

Has anyone tried using rope drop to get on ROTR ?

Yes we did it at rope drop, we were off site so onsite guests were in 30 mins earlier, posted wait time was 140 mins and queue looked very long but it moved constantly as not many lightning lane guests early on, we were on within 100 mins.

We were only there for 1 days so did t want to risk it breaking down later in day also better to queue early in morning when refreshed then later when tired.

The only issue is if it breaks down, it was shut shortly after 7.30am (early entry was 7.30am) on at least 2 days we were there.

It isn't guaranteed that if you book ILL they will be late in the day anyway, DH booked it at 8.08am (refreshing constantly from 8am) for 11.40am. He tried to get later slots but by the time he chose the time they'd gone so he took the first slot he could get after that.

If you do buy ILL, don't give up if it says sold out at 7.01am, keep refreshing and more will appear.

Yes but you could be waiting in line for a long time. We got there about 15 mins in to early entry and the line was already back as far as Muppet Vision 3D😳

From Beach club area. You could walk to DHS to beat the busses and carparks and be at the front of the line for early entry. Then you just have to hope Rise is open !

I’d say you’d still wait for about an hour we were in last week at rope drop it was so busy, we paid for lightening lane and on it at 13:00

Yes it was when we did it but it moves constantly quite fast as there is no lightning lane at that time. Where is later in the day the queue is not visible at muppets but the posted time is longer due to lighting lane taking priority.

It’s never a quick ride to get on though, even with a lightning lane it took us about 20 minutes to get to the pre-show. If you are onsite & don’t want to pay being there as early as possible is probably your best chance (unless it breaks down of course!)

We did in January. The Early entry was at 8:30am (9am for off site). We were at the tapstiles for 7:40 - they let us in the park at 7:45 and walked to ROFR. We were in the first 'room' in the queue by 8:10 and off the ride by 8:25!
It made me begrudge even more, the $50 I'd spent 2 days before booking ILL for it.

We did rope drop to ride ROTR in February. Staying at the boardwalk with official park opening at 9am.
We set off at 7am using the walking path to Hollywood studios, we were held in a queue for a while then walked to the entrance.
By 7.30am we were through the entrance speed walking down Hollywood boulevard
7.40am we were in the indoor queue for ROTR (there were masses of people behind us by this stage). We were in the queue for a fairly long time as I don’t think the ride was actually running at this point
8.10am we were in the Ray/BB8 room
Good luck, afterwards we rode toy story mania and mickey’s runaway train without too much wait.
