I thought I’d give you an update!

After messaging the Twitter handle above (thank you so much), BCC chased the Registry Office for me and I had a call today. She found my form but said they’re already booked through APRIL. 😳 So she’s pulled my form out of the pile and marked it as urgent and will call me when they have what they call ‘emergency appointments’ which I think is another word for cancellations. Apparently they usually open some on Mondays so at some point in the next few weeks I’ll get a call and be told when my appointment is. While it didn’t sound guaranteed she said I should definitely get an appointment and she wrote on my form the last day in March that we could give notice on.

I can’t believe how far forward they are working! She also said they have a backlog of over 800 notice appointments to get through, so if you need to give notice in Birmingham, I’d fill the form in ASAP. 😳

Glad you got a response and it's slight progress. I'd probably chase against in 4 weeks if you've not heard. But I'm not one for leaving things to others.

Glad you got a response, hopefully they get back to you soon with a date.

The wait time doesn’t surprise me. We had to wait 10 weeks for our notice appointment and if we didn’t take the appointment that we did, the next one was another 2 weeks on from that. There was definitely no room to be picky regarding date/time.

It’s crazy how busy they are. Our registry office won’t let us try to book to give notice until two months before, which gives us four weeks to have our appointment! I’m really hoping we manage to get something.

Luckily as we have the simplest circumstances I think we can just take passports and driving licenses but I will definitely double check! Xx

Same here, just a passport and driving license is needed for ours!
