My daughters secondary school have only ever had 30 mins- they do get a morning break of 10 mins. They start school at 8.30 too. They have staggered times due to size of school.

I was just wondering that’s all - it seems that 30 mins is what most get. I just confused as they used to start at 9 and finish at 3, but now they start at 9.30 and finish at 3. I suppose they cut the lunch hour down and labelled PHSE half hour after lunch to give kids time to run around.

when my youngest was at school he had 30 minutes - he always used to moan that the queue was too long for the hot food and there wouldn't be enough time to queue and then eat but his was a very big school.

PHSE is a real lesson and they should be doing something. Careers. Health. Drugs. Knife crime. All sorts of topics are covered.

My ds is 14 and gets two morning breaks 10 & 15 mins, then a lunch break which is 45 mins long. His lunch is quite late in the day and only has one lesson afterwards.

My dd is 8 and gets a morning and afternoon break at 15mins each and then an hour lunch break.

9.30 am is a late start.

Both of my high schoolers start at 8.30am and finish at 2.30 and 2.40pm (different schools).

My daughter (at grammar school) starts at 8:50 and finishes at 4pm with 40 mins for lunch. They finish at 3pm on Fridays.

The last hour of the day is enrichment - basically compulsory clubs, but with lots of fun choices like escape rooms / climbing wall / geek games as well as the usual sports / music / dance clubs, so I like it.
