Join in - sounds that take you back

Not music related but on the way from the car park to the office today I heard the sound of a lower power moped where the rider was shifting up through the gears quickly

This took ne back to my moped days when others (not me!) Owned something called a Yamaha FS1E which pushed th3 limits for what a moped could deliver

They were unmissable by their sound (and if memory serves me right it was mopeds like this that caused the law to be changed so mopeds couldn't go as fast)

So what sounds take you back ?

Come on - join in!

The sound of Sub woofers and noisy exhausts take me back to being a teenager and going to Ace Cafe and to Southend for a car cruise. We used to love going to Ford car shows (and a few others),Silverstone, Donnington etc for track days. My husband built his cars from a shell in the garage and would take them to shows, have them in magazines etc. brings back good memories of our early days. None of our adult children have any interest in cars whatsoever.

The sound of mopeds takes me back to being on holiday in Corfu.
Slightly different but I had the car windows open yesterday and stopped in traffic. The smell of privit flowers took me right back to my childhood as we had privit hedges around the garden.

Clacky balls.

Does anyone else remember those two plastic balls on the end of a piece of string with a metal ring half way along ? The idea being you used to move them up and down until eventually they would go over the top?

Does anyone else remember the knuckle pain ?

Same! I’m sure I’ve heard in many homes since but my mind always goes back to my childhood.

Yes! They remind me of a summer holiday in Spain. It must have been around 1969. My older sister and I both had them (I expect my brothers were too cool and my younger sister was too young). They sure hurt when you lost your rhythm!

This is a coincidence we went on a family holiday to Spain and my brother and I had a set each and remember the sore knuckles to this day.

I also remember running out of the sea because I saw jellyfish for the first time
