To be clear, it's asking for a reduction in departing passengers so the daily number doesn't exceed 100k.
Another example of the airport shedding staff during Covid, and hoping to re-employ on reduced T&C's.

The same airport whose ceo, John Holland-Kaye, made regular please on tv for covid restrictions on travel to be lifted as Heathrow were ready and able to deal with flights and passengers.

I'm flying from T5 tomorrow, not sure whether to go a bit earlier or not, I read that they are saying don't arrive before 3 hrs as its adding to the congestion 😬

Amsterdam Schipol had a similar limitation placed on them by the ACNL (Amsterdam Co-Ordinator Netherlands on 24 June.
Schipol Airport announced "If fewer travellers can fly on any given day, the independent slot coordinator (ACNL) will determine distribution, and airlines will decide how to tackle that. They will do everything they can to keep consequences for travellers to a minimum,” "ACNL will book as many passengers as possible, reschedule flights to other airports and stop selling seats. However, some flights will still have to be cancelled anyway. The statement also stressed that it is not yet known how many flights will be affected by this measure, adding that in the weeks in July, there are 135000 seats per day on average, which is too much for the existing security personnel to deal with." The Dutch Government then went on to announce on the 27 June that will cut the number of annual flights at Schiphol Airport to 440,000 – a 20% cut to Schiphol’s potential cap next year. So it isn't just Heathrow. |

Oh and don't forget that ITV will be starting a new series of Heathrow Britain's Busiest Airport on 20th July.
Why that appeals to my warped sense of humour I do not know- but OH the irony of the programmes title. |

I seriously recommend anyone travelling up to mid September to regularly check their bookings whichever airline they are travelling with - even if it is just a domestic trip for a weekend in London to a long awaited international trip.
