BHX to MLB / Cabana Bay check in

Hi all
I just wanted to allay any concerns about the above route and check in at CB.
Birmingham Airport yesterday was no busier than I’ve experienced it for the last 20 years of travel. TUI were excellent in all aspects of our journey and the food /drinks on flight were great. Melbourne airport was fantastic, yes it’s undergoing a bit of a renovation but it’s the most efficient and friendly airport I’ve ever flown into.
I was a bit nervous about arriving at CB due to stories of 3 hour check in queues but there was no queue at all. This may be down to luck but there were at least 10 staff checking people in so maybe that has improved due to feedback. Our room is lovely too, we’ve been put in one of the towers with super view of volcano bay.
All in all a great start to our holiday and I hope anyone else travelling soon also has a super time x

I love Cabana Bay. We will return to stay there for sure..

A few questions:
1) I had never heard of Melbourne airport. How long did it take to get through the airport compared to MCO?
2) How did you get to Universal, and does it take long?

Hi, we booked with TUI and I believe they now only fly to Melbourne, it’s not far from Cocoa Beach. You collect your luggage before going through Customs. From landing to leaving the airport it took approx an hour all in which I think is exceptional. We had a package holiday and coach transfers were included, approx 90 min coach trip. It’s relatively long but I’d rather spend the time being driven on a coach than standing in airport security queues. Can’t say enough positive about Melbourne, really great service which should only improve when it’s fully renovated.

We flew into MLB from Bristol. MLB is the best airport I have ever flown into. So efficient. I was out in my hire car within 50 minutes!

Hi, yes we booked a volcano view room and we’ve sure got one. We’re that close to one of the more exciting rides we can see the shock / delight on the faces on the people on it! We’ve previously (5 years ago) had a pool view in the Americana building and we loved that too.
Last night we went over to Bar 17 at Aventura which we’d heard of before we came which is a 17th floor rooftop bar, it was fabulous, the views up there are exceptional and drinks not too expensive considering the location, I would highly recommend a visit or two x
