Tilly before the costs are posted I'll try to explain what FIRPA & a Notary are: You are basically buying a contract in the USA so when you sell the Taxman (IRS) takes their cut as the would a US citizen, you then apply (Firpa) to claim this back & you need a Notary to do it for you- it has been known to take a while though.Like here if you owe HMRC they expect it last week but vice versa they take their time!

Thank you so much, do you know if you need a solicitor for this or is it all included in the sale?

You don’t need a notary or solicitor to purchase. But you do need a notary to sell a contract.

Is the golf course at SSR any good? How much for a round and can you hire clubs? My husband loves golf 🤩

It’s an Arnold Palmer course, I’m not a golfer so can’t comment on how good it is but it looks good to the untrained eye. Think they do deals on it.

As to a comparison between the two, ask different people and get different answers as it is subjective.

AKL is our least favourite resort aside from my son who loves it. Whilst it is still lovely, what we were not keen on there’s absolutely nowhere to walk to (exact opposite of SSR) not even any path, or even anywhere to run. The gyms are too small and get packed and so it’s the only place I’ve been to seeing people jog up and down the car park.

Also whilst the theming is fantastic, it’s also dark, and when it’s not sunny outside I found it a bit oppressive.

Also the Kidani pool I thought was worst I’ve been to of the deluxe (but I’m also not keen on the Beach Club pool), with a bee issue in Summer (the blighters constantly buzz you in summer and stung my wife).

Give me SSR any day of the week, but many would rightfully totally disagree with my assessment.

Tilly I believe that all their courses are supposed to be PGA standard in fact up until 2012 they used to hold a Disney PGA classic every year. Not a golfer so I can't vouch for that, the turkeys seem to like it though
I'm with YT,SSR get's a lot of "hate" but it suits us perfectly & we are happy to walk to most places to eat offsite.

Kidani was our home resort (personal reasons meant having to sell ), but we loved the hotel/rooms/view... but as YT says, awful pool area... bugs a plenty when we stayed.

SSR, beautiful resort, and huge in comparison to others. Always looks bright, clean, tidy and well maintained. Multiple pool options and just a really pleasant resort. Would buy DVC there in an instant if finances allowed.

Not these turkeys by any chance!
This was in the Springs car park
I love watching all the golfers, or the boats going past. Give me ssr over beach club any day.

We own at both SSR and AKL and have yet to stay at SSR though this is just because we have gotten lucky with waitlists and are keen to try other resorts. The rooms at AKL are now very dated but once the refurb is done (scheduled for 2025 I think) the rooms will probably also have murphy beds and be much cleaner and fresher looking. We love AKL but typically only stay for a few days to relax after busy park days or similar. Now if they sort some skyliner access to either of these resorts, or ideally both, they would also become a lot more popular. No bad choices, it all comes down to if your preference is for a view of giraffes, zebra and assorted antelope from your balcony, or if you like the access to the dining and shopping at DS. Let us know what you choose!
