MPC at Terminal C - 12/09/24
We were unable to use this yesterday on arrival from our Aer Lingus flight from MAN. Despite all the signage everywhere in the terminal advising you to use it we were told it was being withdrawn because they found too many people were using the service causing chaos! Beggars belief. Loads of people in the immigration queue were commenting on this.

I would of thought it would have been a good thing for lots of people to be using it, strange.

Perhaps the MPC queue was becoming large enough at times that people were waiting longer than the normal queue, or holding up crew/diplomats (who often share the MPC lane). But I would have thought the solution in that case would be to add more MPC lanes, not discontinue the service entirely lol.
Still, I have to say I don't really understand the existence of MPC anymore, from the US government perspective. Now that the kiosks and paper forms are gone, it doesn't really save any time on the actual immigration formalities vs. the regular lines. It's basically just a skip the queue service for people who happened to research MPC ahead of time. Sure, it's great if you're one of those people, but I don't see how that accomplishes anything for CBP. Edited at 04:59 PM. |

Just went through A n B . MPC was a joke 1 booth the queue ww
As quite long for mpc. All the guy was interested in processing crew and those with access issues. So I guess it's already dead n buried. Absolutely shocking.

It would have been handy yesterday. We waited about 40 minutes as we landed at the same time as a Mexican flight so it was very busy. When we got to the desk he didn’t even look at our passports just had a friendly chat and waived us through cos he could see we’d done the MPC.

We landed at Terminal C on Monday. Last off the flight as we had to wait for our electric wheelchair at the gate. Mom (86) in wheelchair was okay, but OH (64) really struggled with the climb from the plane up to the baggage claim area - he is having breathing difficulties from exertion and absolutely positively will NOT take assistance/wheelchair (& with the cases I couldn't push him anyway).
I arrived and one case was whizzing round alone on the conveyor belt and shortly after our other 2 arrived. Fortunately OH was able to lean on the trolley with the cases to steady him. He & I have Global Entry and I'd put MPC on my mom's phone. I set up her account/passport and we all headed - as per the instructions - to Line A. No problem, we OH & I were guided to the GE machine - worked fine for me but OH was confused (no need for passport, then it asked for his passport, I suspect he didn't stand in the right place) immigration chap said carry on (even though he hadn't succesfully registered) and mom was sent in wheelchair with us, even though anyone else with a MPC app was sent to line D (with a queue), not sure why as signs everywhere said A - and there was no one but us at A. Got to the immigration desk - officer asked for all 3 of our passports - me, no problem. OH - has he got GE? Yes, but the machine didn't work, other officer told us to come to you, chap rolled his eyes & processed OH, then mom. We had a good laugh with him. Do you have anything to declare? Well, we have food/snacks but nothing we're not allowed to have. Any money to declare? We should be so lucky. He was great, but I don't think he knew why P was told to skip the machine. So, it's all a bit of a mess in Terminal C by the looks of it. You can use MPC (or we could) but don't follow the instructions! (Unless they tell you you can't) Still, it didn't take us long, but we were probably 25 mins behind the first ones off the flight into the hall. The lines weren't too bad after baggage collection but it is a waste of time waiting for bags first and that initial climb out of the plane is crazy if you are a bit old or infirm. If climbing is hard for anyone with you - pre-book assistance!

Sorry to Hijack, what is Terminal C like now? Has it got busier?
Last year was fantastic immigration was a doddle, about 5 people in line and we were just waved through didn't even take my fingerprints. And departures is night and day ahead of my experiences in A/B I'm flying to C in November |
