Hertz / Dollar / Thrifty Skip the Counter is Here!

Drum roll please... The long awaited 'Skip the Counter' for Hertz / Dollar / Thrifty is about to go live at Orlando Int Airport!

From 29th May Hertz / Dollar / Thrifty customers arriving at MCO no longer have to enjoy the rental desk experience of lengthy queues and high pressure upgrade offers.

7 days prior to the rental start time (remember time zones) customers can begin the check in process using the following links:
dollar/us/en/checkin/start
hertz/us/en/checkin/start
thrifty/us/en/checkin/start

You will need to take a photo of the front and back of your driving licence and then take a selfie. You also need to enter your credit card details.

An hour before your arrival time, you'll receive an email / text to confirm your vehicle selection, review and accept the rental agreement and the vehicle will be allocated. Once you arrive, go straight to the garage!

This is going to be a game changer for Hertz / Dollar / Thrifty and is available to all customers, no matter if they book direct or through brokers.

Would be good to hear some feedback when this goes live.

If you tend to book Alamo because of their skip the counter, will you now consider Hertz / Dollar / Thrifty? How will Alamo respond?

Fantastic news - Thanks Andy.

Do you know if this is also at other locations (e.g. TPA or JFK)?

Great news. Exactly what Sixt already do.

Let’s see how many ditch Alamo now!

My only concern would be that you get an email a hour before you are due to land (if you dont have wifi on the plane you wont see it until you land) stating the car that has been allocated to you. Be interesting to see if there is a time limit for acceptance or if it would auto accept on your behalf and how easy it will be to change the car allocated to you.

Wouldn’t you think it will be as easy to change as if you went to counter?.

Def good news, we will prob still use Alamo mainly due to the spouse being free. I know budget and Avis do this, but Alamo had been cheaper for us.

It’s only Sixt that charge for spouses isn’t it?

Dollars group, I believe you have to sign up for their free club.
