AK v SSR

If you have stayed at any of these hotels please give me your reviews, even better of you have stayed at both 🤩🤩

We have visited AK but never stayed but we have never looked at Saratoga Springs Resort.
The main downside of AK is the location but I have read that it is an handy location if you want to grab an uber and eat offsite. There is also no where to go if you want a long walk in the evening.

Stayed at AKL maybe 10 times - a mix of reg room and DVC. It's a nice resort, we love Jiko and will often pop over to Sanna as well. For us it's a 3 or 4 day resort now, dinner, relax, hopefully a giraffe or two will wander by while we're on the balcony but the novelty wears off. As you say, it's very handy for Sherbeth Road and the 192 shopping/dining areas.

Stayed at SSR once for a week since I purchased points there during lockdown. Loved the peace and quiet in our 1 bed preferred unit and the food court/shop are very good, as is Turf Club. The walk to DS is handy and from preferred units relatively short. We'll stay here again probably next year as part of a split stay.

If you're still debating where to buy I'd go for one of my other home resorts - BLT The option of the walk to MK far outweighs the two options above IMHO.

My other home is BWV but I think the expiry date is too early now to purchase.

Thank you ☺️
We do find that the Contemporary has a airport vibe, we have only ever walked through there, never stayed but do you know what I mean? 🙈
Boardwalk would be higher up in our choice but like you said the expiry date is a no no 😢😢😢
I am still very tempted with GF but my husband isn’t prepared to use so much of our savings in one go.
What will actually happen when BW expires, will Disney resell them all with a new expiration date at a higher cost?

I love the Contemporary and we are really hoping they do a good job of the BLT refurb. I know what you mean about the airport vibe but it really grew on us. We bought at BLT before it was even built after a few really good stays at CR, we'd previously been diehard Polynesian fans but a few issues combined to lead us trying both GF and CR for our MK stays. We've stayed in all types of CR tower room, from lake view standard to MK view VP Suite and all types of BLT units from studios up to Grand Villa. You can't beat walking to MK on Xmas morning for opening time

We stayed 2 nights at SSR last week. We loved it and would like to go back, probably for a non park stay and relax. Myself and teens all said it felt so relaxing, quiet and had a magical feel.
We were in the standard grandstand area and it was a 5 minute walk to reception and artist palette.

Yeah, I reckon full refurb with new higher points charts plus a new scary sale price. It's in an unbeatable location and they will charge whatever they think they can get away with

Have stayed at AK and SSR many many times.
Room wise both are very nice.
At AK we love Boma and the whole vibe, the pool I find a bit busy. We always have transport problems there.
SSR, very handy for Disney Springs and the quiet pools are nice. I don't care for Artists Palette and last time we stayed in the Springs section it took 45 minutes to walk to the food court, pick our order up and return to the room.
I know you've asked about selling DVC, I'll post costs when I've completed on both of our sales. We are losing a big chunk in commission, Firpta fees, notary fees etc. These really add up.
Good luck.

I think it depends on where you want to visit most as well. I barely ever go to MK (I know heinous in a Disnerd), my favourite parks are DHS and AK. However, DHS is pretty close to SSR by car/bus and I spend a lot of time in DS for chilled out coffee, margaritas, lots of food choices.

Obviously biased as it's our Home resort we love SSr for the proximity to DS & a very short walk to offsite restaurants & a supermarket- We've always stayed in the LBV area (apart from Universal for Express pass)so we are familiar with where everything is. If there is one downside to it,if you are using transport, is that close proximity to DS & the non resort guests that walk across to catch the buses at Congress park.
AK is stunning, great pool & great food but we were on a DDP cash booking when we stayed so didn't feel the pain of paying for Boma. Only just "found out" it's close proximity to Kissimmee so we would definitely go back. Downside, as someone else has mentioned, there's nowhere to walk to & for us the fitness centre is too small.
I know you have concerns about a second bed so I'll throw you a curveball If you rent DVC points consider OKW as it has 2 proper beds
