Drinking at Disney
Hello all!
Random little question... My Mum and I would like to share a few cocktails around Epcot. For context; I'm 30 but often still get IDed in the UK... I will be taking my driving licence along with a copy of my passport which has been fine in the past for purchasing drinks. However, my question/concern is: If my Mum is the one to purchase the drink, and then passes it to me to try/share, I don't want it to look like we're doing anything wrong. Like she's sharing an alcoholic drink with someone underage. But equally, I don't want to have to be the one to buy every drink just so they've seen my ID... Has this been a problem for anyone else? Have cast members ever come over to ID you after someone has purchased the drinks? I really don't want to add to the workload of cast members if they're going to be coming over to check I'm of age, but also don't want to feel like I'm doing anything wrong. Thanks for any help/advice you're able to offer!

I thought if bought more than 1 drink everyone had to be present, i.e 1 drink, 1 person.

On this trip if I’ve bought one drink and shared it - no, nobody has ever asked to see both IDs or came up after purchase.
If I’m buying two drinks and there has been another person with me and I’m asked for ID I offer them both and they have always taken both. Although I do think the signs at the stalls say a limit of 2 alcoholic drinks per guest at a time. |

Honestly it depends on who serves you. Some are fine, some are quite clearly against serving alcohol. I had a particularly weird encounter at the US pavilion a few years ago where they seemed almost shocked I was ordering two drinks.
I pointed over to the person I was with and said yes ones for them (and they were very visibly >50) and they got pretty pissy about it, scolded me for trying to order a drink for someone who was not present. Yet other places you could order a round and nobody bats an eyelid. Guess its all just cultural stuff. Either way if someone wants to check you've got the right ID and such so its not a problem. |

Never had an issue when I have bought 2 drinks. I will always take DW's ID and if asked will point in her direction!
Unfortunately, I seem to be at that point were I do not get asked for ID too much these days whether it be FL or earlier this year in NYC.

The majority of time the reason they want to see ID is because they have to input the customers date of birth to authorise sale rather than because they think you look too young.
I was never asked for ID in any of the Disney parks last year and often bought one for me and one for Mrs WDocW while she wasn’t standing right next to me. |

I remember bars in the Animal Kingdom saying if you look under the age of 35 you will be asked for ID.
I will take my Driving License and a copy of my passport as I will have 1 beer a day with my QS meal on the QSDP. Then will have 1 while watching the Epcot fireworks. |

I've been absolutely paranoid about this, as I sent my driving licence off for renewal back in May and I've still not had it back (lovely delays if you have anything on your HGV medical - I'm just glad I don't need it for work).
So far I've not been IDed at all at Disney, although I've taken my passport with me a couple of times if there's something I particularly wanted just in case. I am 40 and DH is finding it particularly amusing that I think I'm going to be IDed, but I know it can happen depending on who serves you.

Dh only got asked once on our trip we have just come back from and that was when on his own buying a bottle of wine from the shop in all star movies resort - the second time he did this - was never asked at the bar by the pool or on any of the parks/restaurants. My dd who is 32 was asked a couple of times - once the cm (in Epcot) tried to say that her copy of her passport wasn’t any good to be used and she couldn’t take it as ID - dd then pointed out the sign which was next to to the till which said that’s exactly what she could use! 🤣
Dh often gave me and my dd a sip of drink to try and no one ever approached us about it - we all had Id anyway so never have it a second thought - if the cm had of said anything it’s thier job not extra work really? I wouldn’t worry about it.

I think the OP is questioning sharing one drink, so if her mum bought a drink and passed it to her to share would this be ok seeing as the OP could pass for being under age.
My daughter is 21 and wanted to try some cocktails in Epcot, she didn’t however want whole ones. So we often shared one cocktail, we never had a problem passing it back and forth 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 |
