We drove in summer, was a clear run until hit the Edinburgh bypass this was a nightmare, allow plenty time to park aswell as it was busy and we had to drive around a bit then catch shuttle bus.

We're having to do the same next year as Oasis is playing in edinburgh the 8th and 9th August and we fly from Edinburgh on the 9th. We might have to hire a minibus as there is 6 of us as we were going to stop overnight the day before and get a train there

How long did it take you? I’m thinking of setting off at 6am.

We were going to get the train and stop overnight. The prices are eye watering. Are you driving up from the north of England too. I hadn’t realised oasis were playing too. Hopefully it will be a bit later it will be busy! We are also flying on the 9th.

Edited at 03:55 PM.

Yeah we are driving from Ashington (Well my wifes step dad is as I cant drive and my wife and her mam arent confident enough to do so)

He was going to drive him, her mam and the 2 neices up in their car on the friday while me and my wife got the train then we all stay in a hotel overnight (But Oasis has now scuppered these plans). Now were looking to hire a minibus either to drive up on the morning of the 9th and drop us off and pick us up on the 31st or drive ourself up in the minibus and pay for parking.

It’s a bloomin pain. I’m setting off about 6am! Just to make sure we get there in time. We usually just get the train to Manchester airport from Durham which is easy. How long will you give yourself driving up on the morning?

I think about 5am was mentioned just to give us plenty time. I'm guessing there maybe a lounge we can book into just in case we get there early and it can help us kill the time before flight

Is it easy and quick to catch the bus.
If you got off at Haymarket the stop before Waverley the Bus/Train/Taxi are available right outside - literally.

Half hour tops you would be at the Airport.

I would allow plenty of time - any incident or issue on the bypass tend to clog up alternative routes too. It’s a small city and congested at the best of times. Oasis crowds will probably all be in bed when you are travelling so can’t imagine that’ll be a problem.

Normally the Edinburgh City bypass at that time on a Saturday morning would cause no problems. However, as others have said, all it takes is an accident or something to hold up traffic and it can be gridlock. If that happened you would always have the option to use other routes that could avoid the bypass if needed.
