I've stayed in Clearwater before and found the beach to be made up of small shells (not very nice) plenty of signs warning of stingrays also, east side was nice and sandy but have only ever done this for a day trip

I have stayed at Daytona - the pits. Clearwater very pleasant but loads of jelly fish /sting rays & St Petes 4 or 5 times. I like St Pete's, although I'd like to give Sanibel / Captiva a go if was hitting the coast. I'm staying in Orlando this time

We like St Petes. We have only visited coco, St Petes and Clearwater.

St Petes is our fave of the three followed by Clearwater. Coco beach is OK but we like to swim in the sea and it is very rough on the Atlantic side.

St Pete and the Gulf coast in general has the nicest beaches, plus fab sunsets as face West.

Another vote here for the Gulf Coast. St. Pete`s is one of our favourites. We always spend a day at Cocoa Beach too, but don`t swim in the sea as the Atlantic is a lot colder and rougher. There always seem to be more shark incidents there too. Eek!
;-) Friday night has happy hour and live music at The Boardwalk which is on Cocoa Beach Pier. That`s the day we visit on as it has a great atmosphere.
Fiona.
