Anybody been to Mount Dora? (not rude)

It sounds as if it could be a nice (half) day out.
Just been reading a tourist guide, and it says it's a quaint little village, something like what Florida was like before Disney appeared on the scene. DW would love strolling around there.
It could prove to be a relaxing break from the crowds and madness of Kisimmee/Disney in the heat of July/August.
DD's (12 and 10) might not be impressed but this would be one of Mum and Dad's days off... it's *our* holiday too !

Just been the once and yes it is different to Orlando/Kissimmee.
Probably worth a half day trip but its a bit of a bind getting there.

Chris,we went a couple of years ago and it is a great place for chilling out.
Lots of craft and antique shops and either a train or trolley bus ride on the Mt Dora to Eustis railway which was very interesting.Even the girls liked it.

Cool

A Satuday visit would be nice.
Mt. Dora is considered a bedroom community of Orlando and as S&S mention a perfect chill out spot without having to drop as much $$ at theme parks.

They also have horse drawn carriages and a pier for boat tours.

Went there in November nice quaint shops , village atmosphere, I remember I had a lovely lunch . Bought a dress for a wedding so I was thrilled with the place. Very sort of pretty but a boring drive there. Nothing much to see on the way but very different from the theme parks.
