It was probably the fact that the place was packed and you could not get near the fountain that put me off - maybe if it was quiet I'd have come away with a better impression of the place.

It was real busy when we went too and I didn't actually go down the steps to the fountain because of it. I stood on the top bit and waited for everyone to throw their coins and come back!

Best thing to do would be to get the underground. Its about 2 euros per person.

Rome is such an amazing place.
