What do you advise?
We're having a final week in Fort Myers this year, after travelling down the East Coast.
We're travelling up from the Keys and going on an Airboat ride in the Everglades on our way, then stopping for a night in Naples, before our home in Fort Myers. I'd be grateful for any ideas on day trips from Fort Myers, shopping etc. and for some recommendations on eating out in the area ! Cheers, Steve |

Steve, sorry I can't help on the Fort Myers question but good to see you back posting again. Seems like years.
Oh, and congratulations on the Grand Slam! Peter

Hi there
We intended to spend a few days at Fort Myers ourselves last month, but switched at the last minute to Naples as our dates clashed with Spring Break Whilst in the area we took a trip to Sanibel & Captiva and had a lovely day out there. Costs $6 on the Sanibel Causeway and another $4 for 2 hours parking. Had a great meal at a place called "Amy's Over-Easy Cafe", varied menu and very reasonable prices. We had researched some Mini-Golf places around Ft Myers too and found there were a few to choose from. There is also a Bahama Breeze off the I-75 near Ft Myers, this always gets rave reviews from Dibbers. There is a dinner theatre (think its called Broadway Palms or something like that) which puts on some pretty famous musicals whilst you enjoy a buffet dinner. We were disappointed not to have got to Fort Myers in the end, there seemed to be plenty to do. We'll definately get there in the future though, I'd love to hear about your trip when you get back. Have a good time! Diane |

Hi
There's plenty to do in and around FM, it jus depends on what you're looking for. Fort Myers Beach is beautiful and lively with loads of water sports etc. We saw dolphin and Stingray within 30ft of th ebeach when we were there last easter. There are numerous crazy golf places, my kids, and me if I'm honest loved Jungle Golf, Pirate Golf and Castle Golf but I was beaten by my 5yo! Sanibel and Captiva are just across the Causway and offer a haven of calm and serenity if that is what you want. The Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge is great if you are into nature. There are kayaks to rent and paddle through the mangroves. Really good fun and the water is only a few feet deep. Beaches are great for shelling and just chilling out. Restaurants abound with Bubble Room and Muck Duck excelling. There are loads of boat trips to the smaller islands or fishing etc. All in all there is lots to do there. We had such a great time last year we are going back this summer for 2 weeks R&R after a week in Orlando and I can't wait. As for shopping there are a few Malls in he area but there is a better one just N of Naples on the main drag, sorry I cant remember the name of it but I did buy a designer suit for £230 which would have been a grand back home! Have fun |

Thanks for the info...
Peter...Stop making me feel old! ...older! The grand slam was wonderful. Nice for my 19yr old son to say ... he was there! He won't have to listen to me wishing of the "good 'ol days" now! Haven't been to Orlando since '03, but last year did the Californian Coastal Highway drive and Vegas and managed a couple of days in Disneyland & Universal. This year it's the East coast. NY-Wash-Shenandoa Valley-Blue Ridge Parkway- Charlotte. Fly from Charlotte to Miami. 3 nights in Key West before a week in Fort Myers villa. Diane...thanks for the info. the restaurants will be investigated! cheeseroll...we'll definitely be visiting the Naples Mall after our overnight stay there! Cheers! Steve |
