A few questions from first timers
We are considering booking a 3 night cruise for July 13, but have a few questions:
- how long is the drive from Disney (we are staying near Epcot) to the cruise approx? - are there times of thenyear when the sea is expected to be more rough? - the holiday is to celebrate my daughters 18th - we understand she can't drink alcohol in US but will she be allowed in the adult areas of the ship? Thanks for your help! Carol |

Welcome to the DCL club! You'll never look back!
Canaveral is approx 1 hr from WDW Hurricane season is August to October I think so I guess the sea may be more likely to be rough but the stabilisers are so strong you shouldn't feel too much even if it is! Your daughter will be able to enter the adult areas of the ship, but as you say, no drinking! Happy Cruising! |

hello and welcome Carol
what a great pressie for a 18th i'm sure your daughter will love it it takes just under a hour to get from the disney area to the port there is absoloutely no problems with her being in any of the adults areas of the ship and as for times of year when the seas are rough i'm not sure on that one, we have been onboard in dec, jan, feb and may and we only have ever had one experience when we noticed some considerable "swaying" and that was for the first night onboard in may, before our very first cruise i worried a lot about movement because i suffer with awful motion sickness, it's so bad i don't even go on the tea cup ride in the MK but i was fine and need not have worried so much, there will of course be times that are not the greatest for the weather or sailing conditions and i'm sure somebody with more experience will come along with more info on this but i think for the most it is ok sailing out of port canaveral because of the huge stabilisers and the sheer size of the ship finally at the top of this cruise section the very lovely Bats (Joa) has a great everything you need to know piece which is a must read for first time cruisers so be sure to check this out Marie Edited at 11:33 AM. |

We did the same with our daughter last year. although she couldn't order drinks on board, the staff didn't seem to have any issues with her drinking when we bought the drinks, although we didn't do it blatantly.
Don't forget, Nassau drinking age is 18. Our daughter bought her first drinks in the Hard Rock and Senior Frogs and loved being carded. We left her at Frogs with a few other 18-20 year olds, with only a small warning to be back on board being the ship left. It can get a bit bumpy as your cross from Florida into the Bahamas proper, we wit's always been pretty calm when we've been on that route. |
