Cash back at Florida stores?
Several stores in the UK offer a cash back service when buying in store e.g. ASDA
Do any US stores do anything similar eg Walmart,Publix? Just wondered if paying via a card, such as Halifax Clarity, getting cash back would negate the need to use an ATM in Florida. On previous Florida holidays I've used traveller cheques at Publix and been given cash as change. A good way of getting dollars in my wallet. Edited at 08:15 PM. Reason: Additional comment |

Yes, I've had cashback a couple of times - Publix and I think Target. However, I have a US bank account so was probably using that card rather than a UK card. Don't know if that makes a difference. Ask the cashier - they can only say 'no'. Don't know if there might be a fee or poor exchange rate with a UK card, although it is similar to an ATM.
EDIT: Just remembered, the card machine next to the checkout cashier at these stores automatically asks 'Do you want cashback?' You either say no, or specify the amount. Edited at 09:20 PM. Reason: Addition |

I suspect this would only be possible with a US issued card but could be wrong.

If I remember correctly, if cashback possible it normally comes at same fee / charges as withdrawing cash from an ATM.
