Yes , they are normally close to the uk price but in dollars . So as long as the exchange rate doesn't get any worse you should save a few pounds.
Basic Series 1 - $269 dollars + Tax - about £220 pounds current Uk apple price £269 . So a small saving but if you go for a series 2 or more expensive model the saving will be greater.

I have an American Apple Watch series 1 and the Uk apple support have been wary in supporting it. Th software has frozen it twice and both time Apple have fixed it as a "courtesy" even though it is under American Warranty

Apple is one brand I only ever buy in the UK, and directly from Apple themselves. Their prices are highly regulated across markets and the small saving (dependent on exchange rate, as mentioned above) isn't worth giving up the UK warranty for. Which is 6 years due to statutory consumer laws - and I have used this successfully for my phone, developed a fault in its third year and it was replaced no questions asked.

When they were first released and with the exchange rate it was worth buying over there but I ended up with mine here instead

No, check the link I posted. It's separate from Apple Care, it's UK consumer law and applies to all Apple products. I believe it is only for faults though, rather than wear and tear / damage. But as I said, my phone developed an out of warranty fault and was replaced on the spot when I took it into store.
I never pay extra for warranty. Edited at 10:38 PM. |

There is not a huge difference in the actual selling cost, however I think you maybe able to get a better deal here if you can find a promotion on bonuses.
For example, the series 2, 42m typically sells for $369 plus tax, there will be little variance in the price because apple strictly regulates the costs however if you purchased it today at Kohls you would pay the $369 plus tax and then be issued a coupon (kohls cash) to come back and spend at kohls for $70. Also if you sign up for the loyalty card you would get another $15 to spend at the beginning of next month. I have seen other stores do similar things with apple products... when I bought my ipad pro at a local store I got a coupon to go back and spend for $150.
