The 5 or 6 year warranty only works if you can prove the fault was there when the item was purchased. For example apple have a known fault with some batteries on some iPhone 6s models. There is a list of model numbers affected. If you were to develop a fault with your battery in year 3 or 4 you could probably point to the known fault and argue that the same fault was present in your model and win the case but the burden to prove the fault was there is on you. In practice this could be extremely hard to prove and therefore the 5 or 6 year warranty isn't exactly something I would ever rely on.

For anyone looking, Target have their Apple Watch Series 2 on sale at $299.99 for the basic 38mm and $329.99 for the 42mm. That's down from the regular price of $369.99 and $399.99 respectively. Some of the dearer series 2 models also have savings on them at the moment. That works out about £250 for the cheapest series 2. On the Apple UK store the series 2 starts at £369.

That's a great saving! gutted i'm not there till Oct/Nov as this is on my wife's shopping list. Does anyone know how often they have this kind of sale or is it just random dates

I've been keeping an eye on various stores as it's on my shopping list as well. Best Buy had a similar deal on that ended about 2 weeks ago. So it looks like they all take turns with the deal and at random times.

Anyone know how long this sale at target is on for as I see they have money off ipad pro's 9.7inch version at least $150 less on base model.

Sorry I can't help you with the Target offer but the Best Buy offer seemed to be on for about 4 weeks. My guess is all the major retailers take turns offering savings on Apple products. There was about a week's gap between the end of the Best Buy offer and the Target offer starting so you might find if the Target offer isn't on when you are there then maybe Walmart or someone else with have an offer on.

Apple Watch 3 is very possibly only 6 weeks away from announcement, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some stock clearing happening.

Thanks for your reply , I've just found out it Finishes Sunday Evening , so anyone planning on buying there apple watch / ipad at Target , better get to it pronto if you are there now or arrive before Sunday. I know where I'm heading first thing Saturday morning.
