San Francisco & LA Hotel recommendations

The Charlie in West Hollywood looks lovely for a couples break. We would have gone for it only being the first time and travelling with a teen we wanted to be closer to Hollywood/Universal. But we've agreed if we're back in 2019 we'll be stopping at The Charlie.

Another vote for the Argonaut, we stayed here in May and would definitely be my first choice if we went back. Right across the road from Ghiradelli Square on Fisherman's Wharf, but at the quiet end. Lovely to walk along the water either way from the hotel.

We stayed at The Donatella in SF Union square lovely hotel ..we liked it never felt unsafe ..Where as i did on FW on the 1 night we went down ..In LA we stayed at The Hilton on Universal ..Expensive nothing to write home about but location is nearest hotel to Universal just over the walkway , ideal for Universal on a night for a drink and meal ..Havnt done Disney yet but have booked for next March at the Best Western plus park palace Inn Suites ..Just over the road from Disney entrance .As we are only doing 3 days i dont mind paying for convenience due to lack of time there ..Free breakfast but $10 a night to park. I would sleep on a bench in San Francisco its the most wonderful City i have ever been to

Thank you for all these recommendations, it's exactly what I'm looking for. I will check them all out.

We were going to stay in LA longer than San Francisco due to Disney/Universal but now I'm thinking I might swap it around as everyone raves about San Francisco.
