Flights for September

Hi there we are planning a return trip next September, we are doing dummy booking at the moment and flight prices are really expensive do you reckon this is because September 2017 is so close so prices reflect that? We usually book a few days after the flights are released but I didn't look for this year that far back.
I'm looking at flying into lax and either doing a return from there or Las Vegas. £1300 each is way to much, will make our holiday expensive from the start has anyone booked for September this year? Thanks

Ps. Sorry that prices was for flying PE

I would only look at PE for the overnight flight back. At best extra leg room seats on the way out. Really not worth the extra expense on the daytime flight out.

We did LA in and LAS out a couple of years ago with PE on the way back and booking it in the December sale made it around £600 each.

Too close for current September to be a comparison, and too far out for next September to be well priced.

Thanks for your reply, we always do PE to Florida both ways, never paid more than £850 so was hoping we could get prices similar to his for the west coast. Perhaps slightly more but didn't want to pay anywhere near £1300

It could well be that due to the short notice of your September dummy bookings, based on supply and demand, are higher than normal. In October this year then you can make actual dummy bookings for next September or look as far as you can next year to get another perspective on it.

We're in to San Francisco Economy and back from LAX PE with car hire for 19 nights with BA for £1800 for 2 of us. Flying out 16 Sept and back 5 Oct. We booked the flights in the Dec/Jan sale.

We booked MAN-LHR-SFO (BA/VA) returning SFO-MAN direct on VA in Premium Economy through Expedia for £723 return. This is departing 31st August, returning 15th September. I booked the flights on 25th June after setting up flight alerts on Kayak, Skyscanner and Momondo and tracking them for several months.

We actually had flights already booked using BA and VA miles, but when this price came up it was worth the cancellation charges for us so that we could keep the miles for a future trip.
