Crusing in August

Due to good on circumstances beyond my control I am having to rearrange my cruise from Easter 2009 to sometime in August 2009.

Mother in law who is also coming with us has raised the issues of tropical storms/hurricanes at this time of year.

Does anyone have experience of cruising during August that they want to share ?

Hi

If you have a look at the trip reports of DIBB members that have cruised in August, this will maybe give you a rough idea of what to expect.

We went in early August 08. The weather was gorgeous, all sunshine and no rain. I do think that we were very lucky, but we are planning to do the same again in August 2011.

We went on the dcl in August last year and because of the disruption cause by TS Fay we checked in at Cape Canaveral which was quite badly flooded and they coached us to Fort Lauderdale. That actually turned into the best part of the cruise beacause the coast guards boat was circling us and showing off and when the horn went every body that had a horn car or otherwise all honked back. The weather in the Bahamas was hot hot hot.

We're cruising with DCL on Aug 30th (4 night) and aren't giving a thought to the weather - of it rains it rains - if there is a hurricane we will probably be safer at sea as the Captain will always navigate away from the bad weather.

Thumbs up

We went in August from Tampa a couple of years ago.
There was a hurricane about so we were rerouted from Mexico and Belize to the Bahamas. It was a bit disappointing to start with but we had a fabulous time and will be going again.
