How many days for Universal Studios in August?
We are going to be staying in a villa this August (last couple of weeks) and were thinking of getting five-day tickets for Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure/Volcano Bay.
Is this a good amount of time or should we spend more/less time there. We are mainly interested in the Harry Potter area and rides suitable for younger children (8 + 2) ... not the big coasters. Also, will the queues be horrendous? |

how much are five-day tickets in comparison to a 2 week one?
we've been loads, so these days tend to spend (at least) one day in each park plus another day to do a mop-up and visit both parks (this is in sept/oct though, so the average wait is less than 45 mins per ride) but i would say 5 days should be ok |

Thank you, I think we will go for the two-week ticket, not much difference in the price!

We are doing 5 nights on site and hoping it's enough.

5 nights will allow you to pace yourselves and revisit favourites. You can easily spend the best part of a day in Diagon Alley and another in Hogsmeade. To keep your 8 year old entertained, you might want to consider buying an interactive wand and trying out the spells around the HP areas.
You will probably want to explore Seuss Landings and crowds can get quite busy there so I'd suggest heading there first thing on one of your days. It is some of the bigger rides that attract the biggest queues but things like Minions, Spiderman and Transformers also get busy. I would prioritise one or two of these each day and spread them out between the lower wait time attractions. Are you staying on-site or nearby? If so, make the most of some pool time and a bit of relaxation too |

We went last week of August last year, kids age 10 and 6. Got 14 day tickets as not much difference in price versus 2 day park to park and did one night on site RPR stay for express passes. We loved Harry Potter areas but as we don't do big coasters or simulators we were easily done in the 2 onsite days and didn't go back. And to be honest the queues for the rides we did do weren't bad so don't feel we got good value for money from the hotel stay. Except Kong, that had a long queue which we skipped but DD6 hated it so only rode once.

We stayed on site at HRH for five nights and with FOL passes easily did everything we wanted multiple times in four days. It was probably too long for us actually.

We only do about 2 days at Universal, but that's because we've been quite a lot in the last few years.
We park hop and enjoy both parks, both days. |

we did 3 nights at cabana bay, so we had the 1st day we arrived, just for a quick look around, then a few rides, we had 2 full days, one in each park, then the last day we spent the whole day until about 4pm doing both parks, using the hogwarts express to go from one to the other.
so I would say 3 - 4 days would be good if you want to see everything. we were there 24th - 27th Aug - thurs - sun last summer. with careful planning we managed everything we wanted to do hth
