I just read your plans and you are going to see some amazing things, although there is a lot of driving.
We have family in the DC area so my kids went frequently while they were growing up (and Southwest had $39. fares). I think a few days in DC is so little. Mine would easily spend that at the zoo. At least as much time for the museums (all are free and well worth a visit) I know your plans were made and I just found this, but if I were you, I would skip DC. It is at minimum a week's trip and driving down the east coast may not be enjoyable (traffic can be horrible.) But I am glad you will get to see this area of the country. I am a native New Englander and think our part of the US is wonderful. Sadly, the trees have peaked although they are still pretty. |
