Yosemite November
Hi all
We will be travelling west coast for 1st 3 weeks in November this year. We will be spending the first few days in San Francisco and was going to head to Yosemite and then head on to LA. Where did you stay in Yosemite on this route? What is the weather like at this time of year? We will be hiring an SUV. Did you stop anywhere along the way to break up the drive? Thanks in advance

Hi San Fran to Yosemite is an easy drive, there are various towns along the way with road side malls of a snack and to stretch the legs. Have a look at the historical rd closures for the high passes. Tioga pass etc. For accommodation if it’s just 2 adults have a look at the blue butterfly bb, or the Yosemite view lodge. These are at el portal very close to park entrance.from Yosemite would suggest you then go to Monterey and then down the coast.

It'll be cold, possibly snow and ice and road closures. We went in late September and it was layers weather as mornings were cold remember seeing 6 degrees c on my phone, then warmed up when the sun hit the valley. Checking lows online you'll have between -1 and 2 up to 13-17 later in the day. So wrap up in lots of layers.
We stayed at housekeeping camp for 2 nights which would require bravery in winter so not recommending, but we also stayed in midpines at autocamp Yosemite airstream caravans which were amazing and the location itself was handy to get into the park, about an hour to the visitor centre area with a nice drive. People also recommend Mariposa, El Portal (which I think it closest to the park without being over the boundary) and Oakhurst which is a good location to start the drive down to LA. Ideal from my POV would be inside the park itself but your cost is greatly increased and it's less convenient for outside food sources. On the drive from San Francisco we stopped at the Livermore outlets about 1hr from san Francisco, but that was more because the other half had ripped her trainers so needed more, our pre-planned break was Manteca to stock up on snacks and drinks at Walmart get food and gas. Can't give anywhere for Yosemite-LA as we doubled back a bit to Monterey after Yosemite.
