I live right by Barbour factory and the shop so pop in a lot, often great prices in summer for them.
Im guessing you must live near me as that was where mine were from, I think its time for another quick trip through the tunnel - I only paid £20 for my last pair and they should have been £100 !

I know what you mean - they aren't the most attractive boots around, but they do seem to be very practical and the state of my dog walking jacket doesn't say glamorous !

The hilarious thing is I wear a very unfashionable Barbour parka which gives me the appearance of having a snowman-like shape, but I don’t care... somehow my vanity does affect my feet.

I’ve been looking at them. They are very expensive but I don’t mind tooooo much if they will last. What kind of upkeep do they need? A boot might suit me actually, as I do find wellies a bit wide and that starts to cause discomfort if on a longer walk.

I have wide calves. I have Joules wellies (always buy them when on sale as they don't last overly long). I love my Dublin River boots. Had them a while now and they still look great.

My friend works at a stables and loves Ariat.
Ive heard the quality of Hunters has really gone down hill in recent times. I think they go for fashion rather than practicality these days!

I think you’re right. My husband has the Hunter Balmoral I think and I’m fairly sure they will outlive him, but mine were the coloured ones and I don’t think they’re made for heavy use. Unfortunately, I find the heavy duty ones too heavy to walk around in.

I'm a fan of joules wellies too... Now we have two doggies I think I will be needing a new pair sooner rather than later so will look out in sales, I have skinny legs but top of my calf is muscular so I like theirs because they adjust easily with the buckle.
