I agree with the other areas you've said. Plus Swanland if you have lots of money!
Swanland is beautiful, for an area that gets such bad press we do have some lovely areas. Admittedly most are just outside of the city itself but we are really only a small city so the option to commute is realistic.
The Avenues area has a fantastic community spirit, they’ve really proved it with the volunteer effort they’ve set up for this crisis. Luckily it’s not really been needed.
Did your mum have one of those beautiful big gardens?

She did but it’s a bit ironic really as she was in a ground floor flat and couldn’t really use the garden because of one of the people in the other flats.
She’s moved to a little bungalow and is loving her own private garden but is missing the community feel of the Avenues.

Thank you so much to everyone. You have all been very helpful.

As soon as he gets his proper job offer letter we will be coming up to Hull.

Can the hospital HR department suggest an area for him, I am sure they will have been asked this many times before as all hospitals have lots of staff who come to work from all over the world and like your son have no knowledge of Hull at all. I am sorry I can't be of more help. Just to wish him luck, all the staff I came into contact with were great, Hull is a friendly City, with a warm Yorkshire welcome.

Thank you. I think we are going to email the hospital when he gets his formal offer through.

As a student there in the eighties I lived on Anlaby Road, Hessle Road and Sculcoates (Lane) - all of which were fairly rough areas - but CHEAP! Only really slept there - but if they are going to proper "live" there, then I would avoid... still hear tales from friends past... and that is a great thing about Hull - people stay in touch!
