I’m really sorry this has happened to you.

We had this at our local cemetery, but it turned out to be the workers binning things, as all the rules had changed regarding what you could or couldn’t have. They even stripped children’s graves of toys and stuff to throw away.

A lot of cemetery’s do have CCTV these days, might be worth asking them to check the cameras. That was how we found out what was happening at our local one. Someone asked about the cameras and was told it was the workers on the orders of the council x

For many years I didn’t know where my baby sons grave was (long story) and after 30 years another family tragedy spurred me into finding it and getting a memorial, the day it was up I visited and put a lovely flower arrangement, my daughter visited the next day and it was gone... the first flowers my baby had in 30 years and some scum nicked them... everything since then I’ve taken wire or string and tied down... and that’s been enough to deter them...

Our local cemetery had a spate of this where flowers and wreaths were stolen off graves and sold at local car boot sales.
People leaving cars unlocked also had bags stolen. The security was ramped up massively and things have improved.
I'm so sorry this happened, it's so upsetting.
Might be worth speaking to whoever's in charge to see if other incidents have happened and if they can help with prevention.

We had the marble edging stolen from by baby nephews grave not long after it was installed. The grave is clearly marked as a childs grave.

My sister reported it to the police but very little they can do. Don't know whats worse the people who steal it or the people who buy it from them if they know where its come from.

I totally agree it is really heartbreaking but just wonder if it's the cemetery 'police' removing anything extra left on graves.

I have heard of this a few times that authorities dislike and have rules against extras on graves.

there are cemetery rules , the cemetery guys are lovely and council don't seem to mind what is put down . the lights were small, the grave next to my mum the new headstone went up 3 weeks ago and they flower grave vases were only in 1 day and gone. now the wee lights you could sell or put into your own garden but the vases

I would report it but had to report dog fowling 2 weeks ago and they said there is nothing they could do so doubt they could do anything

Very sorry there are people that think this is acceptable. I’ve had very similar and sadly had to cement things down. A pain when I need to change them but they have not been stolen again - we have had bases and a ceramic picture stolen.
