If you have never experienced July 4th in Magic Kingdom then it’s worth doing once! I love the special fireworks though you can also catch them on July 3rd.

I now avoid all parks on July 4th as they are MEGA busy.

Next year we are doing shopping at the outlets (which we’ve done for several years) back to the pool in the afternoon then we have tickets for the new Cirque du Soleil show at Disney Springs in the evening.

I notice our countdowns are very similar!

We found if you go to the parks early on the 4th then its perfectly manageable . However later on after mid-day they become a bit of a mare.

We’ve been in WDW for the 4th the past 2 years. We entered fairly early before 10am as my sister was convinced we wouldn’t get in later in the day. Both years we stayed ALL day and I feel it wasn’t worth the wait or the tiredness. Definitely got busier after 4pm.

2018- we did MK on the 3rd. The park cleared out around 2pm due to heavy rain and apparently it was the quietest it’s been in years. We should’ve left for a break then too. But again paranoid sister. The DJ before the fireworks is fun but you need to grab a spot on main street by 6pm making it a long evening. Fireworks are 360 view. Nice enough to experience, very patriotic understandably. The DJ carries on after the fireworks into the early hours. Very busy to leave the park so left after midnight. From being there since 10am it was an extremely long day but nice atmosphere. Once in a lifetime thing. Wouldn’t do all day again.

2019- on the 4th we entered Epcot before 10am. Definitely didn’t feel like the 4th. Not many people dressed up. Very hot day and found it hard to pass time compared to MK. Got a bench at 7pm and it rained until illuminations typical. Got very busy towards the time and people being rude and pushing. Again nice enough fireworks but not worth the wait all day.

Hope that helps!

2018 we did discovery cove knowing it would be as quiet as maximum capacity (so significantly less busy than other places) and it was super quiet all day! Not special for 4th July standards but definitely a nice quieter option

We did MK on the 3rd and then Hollywood studios on the 4th in 2013. The atmosphere in HS was brilliant and the fireworks were amazing. Just another level!

Thanks for that yes only a day between countdowns Cirque du Soleil sounds good might look into that. Thinking I might give the parks a miss.. the crowds might just be too much.
