Hi, going to Brussels for Xmas market at beginning of December. Arrive Thursday evening leave at noon on Sunday.
What should we see/do/eat? (Not massively into museums)

Tricky one to answer having been to Brussels many times on business and for pleasure and trying to figure out what's good at that time of year.

Possible solution would be to get a train to Bruges (about 1 hour and £30 return) for a change of scenery.

Other days trips could be Ghent or even Amsterdam at a push.

We went for 3 nights in November last year - and didn't see the Christmas markets as they don't start until 1 December (sensible people!). We did know this before we went though

We went to the Atomium, which was excellent, and to the Mini-Europe model village opposite (will be be chucked out of this eventually?!).

We also took the train to Bruges and went on the little canal boats, which were unexpectedly running - very pretty.

We walked to the Parque de Cinquantenaire, past the European Commission buildings, and it's a nice park. There's a big car museum there too, which we didn't go in.

Brussels is a good place just to wander the streets and look at the shops and buildings.

I seem to remember we spent quite a lot of time sampling chocolate too!

I only went once a few years ago just for a quick city break. What I remember from that trip was visiting the Atomium (rather liked it and it was quite interesting), passing by the Leonidas chocolate shop at the Grand Place many times and buying a decent amount of chocolate from it, and going to the Pierre Marcolini shop and marvelling at the chocolate and buying a much smaller amount of chocolate from it. Oh and also the Tintin murals everywhere and the Mannekin Pis.

Leonidas and Pierre Marcolini are both available in London though (the last time I was in London anyway which was a year ago)!
