Abu Dhabi - October?

Anyone care to share any knowledge, tips etc. please?

Looking at this for a potential October break, I wasn't the greatest fan of Dubai and have been assured by friends in the airline industry that Abu Dhabi is a nicer alternative.

Not been wowed by anything yet during my very limited bit of research so happy to hear from anyone who's been.

I can’t give any advice,as I’ve only stayed 1 night on a stop over back from Australia, but liked what I saw and will book a few nights break there sometime.
But if you are looking to go with Ethiad, then until the 24th June they have an offer on,where if you buy holiday vouchers they are giving you 50% free.
I think they are valid for 2 years.
We purchased some last week and booked 5 adult return flights to Thailand for next March, the total on my bank statement was £1778 as the vouchers are purchased in dollars.
It’s a great deal and so straight forward.

My brother and his family stay there. We have been 3 or 4 times. I really like it. It’s not as decadent, for want of a better word , as Dubai.
The malls are lovely, there are some beautiful hotels. We were in a really nice park in the city centre one time that had food trucks. The corniche is nice. They have built a Louvre but not been there since it was built. The Mosque is absolutely stunning. I haven’t been to Ferrari world or the water park but I think they are good. Oh and there’s a new theme park opened as well, Warner bros. I know my brother liked that.
If you like food there are loads of excellent places to eat and if there on a Friday you must do a brunch.

Can’t comment about October time but we went in June 2 years ago and the place was nice but dead with no one seeming to be around anywhere- even the hotel was quiet. Positive is we got some amazing photos and sometimes it is nice to do things without the crowds but you do expect them at theme parks- literally walking into every ride at Ferrari world (even the fastest rollercoaster) was a bit weird, we thought it was going to be a full day adventure and we were done in less than 3hrs. We ended up going to Dubai for 2 days that we hadn’t planned. I each to their own though and you might love the slower pace

The Shereton on the corniche is nice, the beach rotana and le meridian next to the mall are all great places to stay. i like the Sheraton as it as a great beach and a nice walk along the cornice with some nice views.
it can be a bit pricey in the hotel bars etc, but plenty of very good local restaurants where food is amazingly cheap and very tasty not all serve beer.
The malls are pretty much uk usa standard with a food court and top branded clothes shops on a variety of floors etc but are no cheaper than uk.
Just remember you are not in the uk and usa so dress appropriately for the place you are visiting.

We went in November a couple of years ago for the grand prix. We stayed 4 days , in the corniche area, shopping is good if you like that, the mosque is stunning and worth a visit, and so is the museum of Abu Dhabi life . Other than that I cant say I really enjoyed it ,and from what I see Dubai is much better but I've not been there.
I wouldn't go back

Thank you everyone.

Sounds perfect for us for a few days of sunshine and just so DH & I can have a few days away together.

Not booking anything until the last minute this year though so will keep an eye on things.

:) Abu Dhabi

I've been a few times and much prefer to Dubai. I've stayed on the Corniche and Yas Island. There is lots to do, Yas Waterworld was great, cabana's very good and reasonable. The mosque was amazing but very busy, you need to cover up with a robe (Abaya) which they provided. Also worth visiting the Abu Dhabi Presidential Palace, it's stunning. One of my favourites was afternoon tea at The Emirates Palace - I think it worked out about £50 each, but was worth every penny. We have also cycled round the Grand Prix circuit, think this is on Tuesday evenings, everything is provided - all free.
I'd suggest doing your research as will probably be new rules and restrictions in place now.
Have a great time
