Virgin vs Thomas Cook

We flew with Thomas Cook in August and was happy with the service.

For us we don't buy drinks on board and just buy drinks at the airport to take on board with us, so the cost of drinks isn't that important to us. However if I flew with Virgin I no doubt would take advantage of the free drinks.

We upgraded for the kids in terms of the movies, however there was ore than enough to watch without upgrading.

I guess it all boils down to cost for us. I suppose you have to ask yourself is it cost or the experience thats more important in regards to the price difference.

I have flown with Thomas cook to Orlando and to Vegas for the past 2 years. First time out of choice and second because they where the cheapest. However now I would not choose to fly with them again. There’s nothing actually wrong with the flight or the service but for the money I paid I expected more than 2 drinks on a long haul flight and more choice than just tea coffee or squash. You also have to pay extra for a full film selection as they only give you 4 films and I recall they where the same on the way home too. I have never flown Virgin but have booked them for this years trip and have heard good reviews .

I would use TC again but only at the right price, you have to pay for meals,drinks, head sets, movies- it was the same films on the way out as the way back unless you paid extra! Personally we prefer BA as Virgin are too expensive & even this year TC price was nearly twice that of BA (for us). One last thing I would say about our TC flight, it was before they started using the Airtankers, but surprisingly there was quite a bit of room but it felt like sitting on a church pew for 8 hours!
