The All-Stars are usually blocked for parts of May (and February, and December) for cheerleading events. This happens every year.

Husband thinks we should give it until end of June. We would just pay as we go and not buy dining plan.

Not sure how it would work with flights via Disney; I assume you would add them when you add the extra people.

Otherwise you're spot on. I think some people do it if the rooms/resort they want aren't available at that time. Any change normally means a £50 amendment fee but if the price increases they don't charge that.

Just been looking at the Disney website and seen this about new reservations:

New Disney Resort Hotel Reservations: At this time, new reservations at Disney Resort hotels are temporarily paused so we can focus on Guests with existing reservations (Disney Vacation Club Members can still make new reservations). Reservations will resume after that period of time.

I think it will be a little while longer till we can find out about any free dining or not...

Our final amount is due in August for October. I’m giving it until July to decide whether to cancel. If no free dining we will go in 2022. Normally we would stay in a villa if we can’t stay onsite but for several reasons we want to stay onsite next trip.

I’m now leaning towards all star movies instead of POFQ! We stopped in POFQ last year and did love but also stayed at all star sports too and loved that. All stars movies is much more in your face Disney! Kids will be 18 and 11. Rooms recently refurbished. Not sure whether to hold on a bit longer!

Our balance for this year is due in July. My preference would be to try and move it to next year and save the deposit but if there’s no announcement by then I’ll have to just cancel. At that point I’ll hold off as long as I need to as our trip will move to next September so we have time. If not free dining I’d just keep an eye out for a room discount. If neither by the time we get to June next year we’d need to bite the bullet and book something.

So I suppose the answer to your question is dependent on the individual circumstances.

Our travel agent has just posted there are no new bookings for Disney until the resort cAn reopen fully and no new 2020 bookings at all.
